美国平面设计协会（AIGA）从1924年开始举办「50佳图书 | 50佳封面（50 Books | 50 Covers）」比赛，旨在评选出过去一年里在书籍和封面设计上表现最出色的书，并永久录入可访问的AIGA平面设计收藏档案库中。目前该赛事已成为美国平面设计界历史最悠久的比赛之一。
2019年度竞赛的评委们对每件作品的综合设计方式进行了评估，包括概念、创新，以及排版、插图和信息设计等视视觉元素方面的运用，并于5月19日于AIGA官网公布了2019年度「50 Books | 50 Covers」的获奖作品。本届大奖共收到783个来自32个国家的作品，最终82件书籍及封面作品脱颖而出，其中有18件作品同时获评最佳图书和最佳封面。
